10th March and CRUFTS for the first time in 2 years. A show where you just hope to come away with a card. Instead a day I could only have dreamed of. Vinnie was entered under judge Merv Casling (Meranne) and to my delight was awarded 3rd in a good sized Mid-Limit dog class.
Now for the star of the day, Gypsy. The judge was Miranda Blake (Corydon) from whose breeding most of my dogs descend so I knew she would be more critical of mine. I stood looking round in Minor Puppy Bitch at the other 3 girls thinking what a nice class and could we possibly win it. To my delight Gypsy moved like a dream, having never seen a carpet before and the buzzing atmosphere of the NEC. That was it, she won the class. Our day was complete so I thought. We went in to the bitch challenge not expecting any more as it was a super line up. I could hardly take it in then that not only was Gypsy awarded Best Puppy bitch but also the Reserve Challenge Certificate giving her a Kennel Club Stud Book Number.
It then fell to us to challenge the Best Puppy dog and as the judges couldn't agree the group judge Jeff Horsewell (Drakesleat) was called to decide. He awarded Gypsy Best Puppy in Breed. We had so many nice comments from fellow exhibitors and onlookers the day won't be forgotten for a long time.
